Sony Gulf FZE is a wholly owned subsidiary of Sony Corporation, Japan, one of the world’s premiere consumer electronics and entertainment companies.

Sony Gulf FZE is a wholly owned subsidiary of Sony Corporation, Japan, one of the world’s premiere consumer electronics and entertainment companies. Based in Jebel Ali Freeport Zone, it is the regional head quarters of the company for its Middle East and Africa operations. Sony Gulf’s principal businesses comprise Sony Consumer Electronics, Data Media, Computer Peripherals, Recording Media and Energy (Batteries), Mobile Electronics (Car Audio) and Computer Entertainment products (PlayStation) in more than 40 countries in the region.
Since its establishment in September 1992, Sony Gulf FZE has grabbed a commanding share of the regional market in all spheres of its varied businesses. Sony Gulf’s varied product portfolio has, over the years, won immense popularity in the consumer and professional markets in the region making Sony the most sought-after brand in the region due to it matchless quality and impeccable service record. Sony Gulf closed the financial year 2006 announcing a turnover of over US $ 1 billion in April 2007. Choosing Jebel Ali Freeport Zone, one of the world’s most vibrant Freeport zones, as its base in the region placed Sony in a hugely beneficial vantage point as the free zone laws allow 100 per cent foreign ownership and guarantee exemption from corporate taxes for 50 years. The excellent support from the Dubai Ports Authority and the absence of currency restrictions add to the many advantages. The 27,000 sq. meter warehousing area of Sony in Jebel Ali is one of the largest Sony facilities in the world at present. Besides stock operations in the Jebel Ali Free Zone Establishment, Sony Gulf FZE spearheads execution of various logistics, sales, marketing, advertising, and after sales customer service activities through its many business partners and representative offices. A network of representative offices in Kenya, Saudi Arabia, Iran, and Pakistan, in addition to well over 250 accredited third party service centers, reinforces Sony’s presence in the region.
Sony Gulf Managing Director
Mr. Osamu Miura was appointed Managing Director of Sony Gulf FZE in January 2007 and brings to Sony Gulf a wealth of expertise gleaned from his wide-ranging global assignments. Mr. Miura was one of the founding members who established Sony Gulf FZE in 1989 and prior to his current assignment in Sony Gulf; he spent eight years in Latin America as President of Sony in Argentina and Chile and Director, Sales & Marketing in Brazil.
In his initial comments as the Managing Director of Sony Gulf, Mr. Osamu Miura, said, “The Middle East and in particular the UAE, has developed phenomenally. The consumer electronics industry here has seen incredible growth and I am delighted to join Sony Gulf when the business in the region is at the threshold of an exciting phase – the shift from Standard to High Definition. High Definition is without any doubt the biggest revolution that is transforming the Consumer Electronics & Entertainment Industries worldwide. The two decades of pioneering research in the development of this vital technology will spearhead Sony Gulf’s growth and sustain its market leadership in the Middle East & Africa region”. Mr. Miura joined Sony Corporation in 1982 and was based in Japan, overseeing the Sales & Marketing functions of the Middle East. In 1986, he was became the Chief Representative of Sony’s office in Egypt and in 1988, was appointed as a member of the founding team that established Sony’s regional office, Sony Gulf FZE in Dubai, UAE. After a successful stint in Sony Gulf, UAE, he joined the team that set up operations in Cyprus in 1992. In 1994, Mr. Miura was appointed as Chief Representative and General Manager of Modern Electronics Co. Ltd. in Saudi Arabia. Four years later, he joined Sony Brazil as Sales and Marketing Director before taking up assignments as President in Sony Argentina and Sony Chile from 2000 - 2006. Mr. Miura is married and has one child. He enjoys golf and loves tennis and swimming. He is also a Latin American music enthusiast.
